DO YOU SING IN THE SHOWER? ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WE SEE SINGING IN THE CAR AT STOP LIGHTS, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY STYLE? ARE YOU THE FIRST ONE UP ON STAGE FOR KARAOKE NIGHT? DO YOU SING WITH YOUR CHURCH OR SCHOOL CHOIR? HAS SOMEONE TOLD YOU, "YOU HAVE A GOOD VOICE"? THEN PUT THAT TALENT TO GOOD USE AND JOIN US!
Singing professionally or prior vocal training is not a requirement to join. The only thing needed is a love of music and a love of singing. Don't worry if you cannot read music, many of our members could not read music when they first joined. We are a community group; there are no auditions.
Just read what one of our members, Wayne Chism, has to say:
“Singing is something I’ve done all my life. My first singing experience was in Glee Club in high school, which was directed by Mrs. Bishop, the choir director at my church. I left South Georgia after high school, returning 25 years later with a burning desire to find Mrs. Bishop and tell her how meaningful the voice training was that she gave me and how much I still enjoy singing! Unfortunately, I was too late to tell her how much she meant to me. But one lesson will never leave me; it’s how singing makes me feel! Singing lifts the spirit! It is impossible to sing and be depressed at the same time! You can be down and sing the blues, but that is only for a season. Most of life is singing for joy, and a sense of community. If you acquire increases in your command of vocal skills, that’s just a bonus! I recall an NPR report of how one fellow who sang in a Barbershop Quartet went through bankruptcy and divorce, a very difficult time in his life; however, when he was singing, his spirit was lifted. Even if it was for a short time each week, he was encouraged. That’s what music does-it not only encourages the listener but the singer as well! So, even if you feel you don’t have any singing ability or time to come to rehearsal, you are encouraged to come to our performances and have your spirit lifted!”
