December 2011 Presentation ”Christmas Joy”

From: M Bartoletti - Tue, Jan 3, 2012

Grant,

Wishing you and the Choral Guild all the best in the New Year. Also, congratulations on locating better facilities for your rehearsals.

Once again, please extend my appreciation to everyone for a lovely performance of my Christmas Carol. For Lili and me, holding hands, it was like being freshmen in college all over again as we listened to your singers. Thanks also for the CDs of the performance.

Mario

P.S. We were both very impressed with Peter John's compositions. If you are in touch with him, let him know that we wish him every success in getting them published.

In a delightful twist on a beloved favorite, the Choral Guild combined props and singing to tell the aftermath of a fight between the giver and his true love in The 12 Days After Christmas. The Five Golden Rings turned the true love's fingers green, the Seven Swans a-Swimming drowned and the Pear Tree was consumed in the fireplace. When the Six Geese a-Laying failed to live up to their title, they were shipped to the ASPCA. Toy guns were used to dispatch the Partridge, a stew pot turned the Four French Hens into chicken soup, rubber gloves were used to wring the necks of the Two Turtle Doves and drums and sound effects made quick work of other gifts given during The Twelve Days of Christmas.  It was a lighthearted piece about Christmas gone wrong.
